On Monday 31/10/2022, the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah discussed a PhD dissertation in the Department of Economics on (economic manifestations of political instability for selected Arab countries with special reference to Iraq). The researcher’s dissertation (Wasan Hadi Faihan) aims to show the impact of political instability on the overall performance of the economy. It is natural that several economic manifestations will result for the period 2003-2020 in selected countries (Libya, Saudi Arabia), with a special reference to Iraq that this period is exceptional in light of the events that took place Both in Iraq and in the countries selected for political, security, economic and social instability.
The dissertation concluded that political stability in all sample countries is an influential variable in the macroeconomic variables. The simple linear regression analysis, in which political instability is an independent variable, helps predict the values of economic variables, as it is significant and negatively affecting the variables.
