College History:
The college was established on 9/1/1971 according to the decision of the Council of Higher Education and Scientific Research No. (Council/D/3/A/5/S/A) in its third session, and the secretariat book No. 262/6696) was issued on 9/11/1971.  the total effect of the liquidation body of law and the economy canceled and started working out since the University of Basra began as part of the University of Baghdad in 1964, and then right at the Faculty of Commerce and Economics of the University of Mustansiriya - evening Studies Department of the College in 1974, and began college liquidation of 1975 and closed permanently in the following year  The duration of study in the college is four years, and thus the number of batches that graduated from a bachelor's degree becomes (50) batches.
Its scientific structure was strengthened and its cognitive and social responsibility deepened by opening postgraduate studies in the Department of Economics for the academic year (1982-1983) to study masters, (1986_1987) doctorate and higher diploma (20/12/2013).
The Department of Management Information Systems opened for the initial study in the academic year (2018-2019), with a number of (8) lecturers and (86) students.


ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT:
The department was established within the departments of the college of Arts in 1965, and then transferred to the college of Administration and Economics upon its establishment in (1971 _ 1972), where (50) batches graduated from BA in economic sciences. While the postgraduate studies was opened in the academic year (1982-1983) when (6) students were accepted in the first batch to study master’s degree in the department, and doctoral study in the academic year (1986-1987) and it was accepted (2) in the first batch. The study of the higher diploma _Specialization in Energy economics was introduced for the academic year (2012-2013) and in the (2014-2015) academic year three branches were opened the student specializes in studying from the third stage:                                            
1. General Economics Branch
2. Strategic Planning Branch
3. Oil Economics Branch
4. Transportation Branch for the academic year (2016-2017)

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT:                                                                               
The department was established in 1973, where it was graduated (43) batch of a Bachelor of Business Administration Science. Either graduate opened in the school year (1987_1988) where 6 students were accepted in the first installment of the Master's study in the section, and Ph.D. study of the school year (1992_1993) was accepted (2) in the first batch, while for the higher diploma, academic general strategic planning (2015-2016).


ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT:
The department was established in 1985-1984, when (32) batches of Bachelor's degree holders graduated in accounting sciences. As for postgraduate studies it was opened in the academic year (1987-1988), when (6) students were accepted in the first batch to study a master's degree in the department, and a doctorate study year (1996-1997) was accepted (2) students in the first batch.


STATISTICS DEPARTMENT:
The department was established in the year (1988_1989), when (28) batches of bachelor's degree holders graduated in statistical sciences. As for postgraduate studies it was opened in the academic year (2001-2002), when (2) students were accepted into the first batch to study for a master's degree in the department.


FINANCIAL AND BANKING SCIENCES DEPARTMENT:                                                       
The department was established in (2002-2003), when (14) batches of Bachelor's degree holders graduated from financial and banking sciences. The postgraduate studies of the academic year (2012-2013) were created for master's studies by accepting (5) students.  And the doctoral study in the academic year (2016-2017), where it accepted (3) students.


ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION SYSTEM DEPARTMENT:                                       
The academic general department opened (2018-2019) with (8) teaching staff and (86) students For the  morning undergraduate study.
