UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH ORGANIZES EXTENSIVE TREE-PLANTING CAMPAIGN TO PROMOTE ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AND AESTHETICS
The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Basrah, organized a tree-planting campaign within the college’s gardens. The Dean of the college Prof. Dr. Abdul-Hussein Tawfiq Shibli participated in the event, along with the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, the Head of the Management Information Systems Department, the College Council Rapporteur, as well as college members, staff, and students.
The campaign aimed to promote environmental sustainability, expand green spaces, and foster a culture of preserving the university environment, while also cultivating a spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility among the participants.
The initiative included the removal of Conocarpus trees—which had caused significant damage to infrastructure and their replacement with new, eco-friendly saplings. This effort contributes to enhancing the aesthetic landscape and creating a healthy, sustainable environment within the college.
The initiative underscored the importance of continuing tree-planting activities and environmental awareness efforts, while maintaining existing vegetation and further developing green spaces across the university campus.
