UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH ORGANIZES A SCIENTIFIC WORKSHOP ON (THE REALITY OF STATISTICS IN THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS):
The Department of Statistics at the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with Siraj Al-Maarifa Training and Development Company, organized a scientific workshop entitled (The Reality of Statistics in the Public and Private Sectors) on Sunday 15/12/2024 in the hall of Siraj Al-Maarifa Training and Development Company.
The workshop, which was lectured by Assist. Prof. Dr. Bahaa Abdul Razzaq Qasim and Dr. Essam Younis Abdul Zahra, the company’s executive director, and attended by the Head of the Statistics Department and a group of lecturers and undergraduate and graduate students of the department, included several axes in this aspect, including defining the importance of statistics in supporting all sectors of society and discussing the role of statistics in a group of sectors represented (business administration, economics, health), addressing the most important skills that statisticians must possess to enter the labor market and discussing a group of challenges that hinder the work of a specialist in statistics.
The workshop aimed to introduce students to the role and importance of the Statistics Department in developing and serving the community and how to apply it in various sectors.
The workshop also recommended the necessity of defining and marketing the statistics specialization in the labor market, as it is one of the important specializations that supports and develops the work of all sectors by enabling decision-makers to make sound and optimal decisions that ultimately lead to the advancement of their institutions for the best.
