The University of Basrah organizes a scientific trip to the Central Bank of Iraq in Basrah:
On Tuesday 28/11/2023 the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah organized a scientific trip to the Central Bank of Iraq, Basrah Branch, accompanied by lecturers and students of the Economics Department.
The scientific trip aims to introduce the working mechanism of the Central Bank of Iraq, its tasks, and the traditional and new tools that contribute to economic development.
The scientific trip included giving a valuable lecture that dealt with three axes. The first axis presented the emergence of the Central Bank of Iraq in general, the emergence of the Basrah branch, an explanation of its importance, and its role in economic development. As for the second axis, it discussed the traditional tools represented in open market operations, the legal reserve, and the rediscount rate, and an explanation of the importance of these tools in Cases of inflation and economic stagnation. The third axis dealt with the use of new tools represented by quantitative recording in order to raise the pace of economic growth.
Those in charge of the scientific trip called for the continuation of such visits to the Central Bank of Iraq and to provide the college with introductory bulletins on the bank’s activity in order to communicate developments.
