THE UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH ORGANIZES AN AWARENESS WORKSHOP ON “THE IMPORTANCE OF ACADEMIC ADVISING AND ITS ROLE IN DEVELOPING STUDENTS’ SKILLS”
The Educational Guidance and Psychological Guidance Unit at the College of Administration and Economics organized a special guidance workshop for college members entitled (The Importance of Academic Guidance and its Role in Developing Students’ Skills) on Monday 13/11/2023, in which Assist. Prof. Dr. Sinan Saeed Jassim, Lecturer at the College of Education for Girls, lectured and Assist Lect. Duaa Shahid Habib is responsible for the Educational Guidance and Psychological Guidance Unit at the College of Administration and Economics.
The workshop aimed to help the student draw study and life plans that suit his abilities, goals, and inclinations and help him diagnose and address the problems he faces in life, which make him a balanced and good person.
The workshop included the concept of guidance and the tasks of the educational guidance member, in addition to defining the requirements for the guidance role in universities to carry out his educational responsibilities on campus.
The workshop recommended developing lecturers’ counseling skills in addressing students’ problems and creating an integrated educational philosophy to enhance the counseling role of lecturers and enhance their effective educational role in the field of educating and guiding students.
