Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines the Relationship Between Financial Innovation and Banking Efficiency
A master's thesis at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Basra, examined the role of financial innovation in improving banking efficiency. The study, an analytical examination of a sample of commercial banks listed on the Iraq Stock Exchange, covered the period from 2017 to 2024. The thesis, submitted by student Afnan Fattah Omran, aimed to demonstrate the impact of financial innovation on banking efficiency through the analysis of financial indicators and the use of a range of mediating factors.
The thesis employed advanced financial and statistical methods, including autoregressive lag models and path analysis.
The thesis concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between financial innovation and banking efficiency, confirming that financial innovation is a key determinant of improved banking performance.
The thesis recommended future research addressing the relationship between financial innovation and financial stability in the context of digital transformation, focusing on the impact of modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence and blockchain, on improving performance and efficiency in Iraqi and Arab private banks.
