On Thursday 30/3/2023 the Educational Counseling and Psychological Guidance Unit at the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah joined an electronic counseling workshop on (the importance of educational counseling units in addressing behavioral problems of university students) on the Google Meet program.

The workshop, which was attended by Assist. Prof.  Dr. Sinan Saeed Jassim, a lecturer at the College of Education for Girls, and an assist. Lect. Duaa Shahid Habib responsible for the Educational Counseling and Psychological Guidance Unit at the College, aimed at preserving the mental health of the learners by identifying their psychological and emotional needs and working on developing an action plan to satisfy them. These needs are in addition to providing psychological advice and counseling individually or collectively, which helps to solve the psychological problems facing the learners through positive communication with them and enhancing their view of themselves.

The workshop included several axes, including the role of the psychological counselor in modifying the educational behavior of the university student, the definition of psychological counseling and its objectives, in addition to the qualities and skills of the psychological counselor.

The guidance workshop recommended educating students about the academic regulations in force within the university, assisting students in determining their future professional inclinations, coordinating with teaching staff regarding the development of remedial plans for treatment, and providing educational advice to students to help them improve their academic level.
