THE UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH ORGANIZES A SEMINAR ON IMPROVING LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT IN IRAQI PORTS USING EXPERT SYSTEMS    
On Sunday 15/5/2022 the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah organized a panel discussion on improving logistics management in Iraqi ports using expert systems - a case study of container berths in Umm Qasr port.
The seminar in which Prof. Dr. Hadi Abdel-Wahhab Abdel-Imam and Assistant Professor Dr. Bahaa Abdel-Razzaq lectured aimed to develop a proposed strategic plan for the application of expert systems as one of the requirements for improving logistics management in Iraqi ports to address handling problems (shipping/unloading) as well as diagnosing the causes of bottlenecks that ports suffer from  The Iraqi port, specifically Umm Qasr port, by studying the system of truck movement in the port (internal transport) between berths and container yards and assessing the correctness of movement, in addition to diagnosing the determinants of the work and systems of port gates for the passage of trucks (external transport) in order to determine the appropriate number of gates, which contributes to  Increasing the efficiency of the performance of Iraqi ports specifically Umm Qasr port.
The seminar dealt with finding clear treatments through the application of expert systems to the problems that ports suffer from and related to the field of logistics management.
