EDUCATION ANNOUNCES THE RESULTS OF THE IRAQI CLASSIFICATION OF UNIVERSITIES IRU
In confirmation of the effectiveness of university institutions and their local and international reputation and diagnosis of performance indicators and academic level in the light of their mission and objectives and in harmony with their achieved positions in international classifications, the ministry of higher education and scientific research announces the results of the (Iraqi classification of universities IRU) which the quality assurance department of the quality assurance and academic accreditation department has been working on in the academic supervision and evaluation system.                                                                                                                                             

The specialists in this file conducted a comprehensive evaluation of eighty-three governmental and private educational institutions distributed over thirty-six public universities, forty-seven universities and private colleges, eight hundred and seventy-five specialized colleges, and one thousand seven hundred and twenty-nine scientific departments.
The evaluation included criteria related to the institutional environment and academic programs, and their details and weights were divided into two groups:
- Institutional performance evaluation criteria, which include quality and institutional accreditation 20%, international classifications 15%, effectiveness of scientific research 20%, community service 5%, resource maximization 10%, faculty members 10%, students 15%, and international diversity 5%.
- Criteria for evaluating the performance of scientific departments, which include quality and program accreditation 35%, effectiveness of scientific research 30%, faculty members 20% and students 15%.
The published results showed (http://mohesr.gov.iq/ar/iru) the University of Baghdad ranked first among public universities, while the Al-mustaqbal College came first on private universities and colleges, and one hundred and eighty-five departments achieved advanced positions in corresponding specializations.
Recognizing the requirements of quality and academic accreditation, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research continues its procedures and policy in developing the performance of its universities, improving its programs, and measuring its outputs and their relevance to global developments.
