University of Basrah Hosts Workshop on Career Opportunities for Statistics Graduates
The Department of Statistics at the College of Administration and Economics in collaboration with the College’s Rehabilitation and Employment Unit and the University of Basrah’s Center for Continuing Education and Development—organized a workshop titled "From the Classroom to the Job Market: Where Do Statistics Graduates Work?"
The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and professional requirements, while helping students make informed decisions based on data analysis.
Presented by Dr. Ali Nasser Hussein, Dr. Bahaa Abdul-Razzaq Qasim, and college member Shaimaa Qasim Mohsen, the workshop addressed the labor market gap, relevant job titles, and the "triad" of programming, business, and statistical proficiency. The workshop concluded with recommendations to develop technical skills, master the language of business, and leverage statistics as a foundational pillar for artificial intelligence and decision-making.
