On Tuesday, 14/12/2021, the College of Administration and Economics at Basra University discussed a master’s thesis in banking and financial sciences on the relationship between currency auction and capital flight from Iraq for the period (2007-2019).
The thesis of the researcher (Ahmed Duair Abdel Rahman) aims to address the basic concepts of the phenomenon of capital flight and to distinguish between the concepts of money smuggling, illegal financial flows and capital flight.
The thesis recommended providing a safe and stable economically, politically and security environment for the owners of capital instead of investing it abroad, and setting certain controls and mechanisms for the operation of the currency auction window and not to sell foreign currency until after ensuring the integrity of the submitted documents (import invoices) and not tampering with them.
