The University of Basrah achieved first place among Iraqi universities in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2025, leading in innovation, transformative education, and global societal impact.

- Ranked first in Iraq with 68% for First Author Contribution
- Ranked second with 62% for Corresponding Author Contribution
This reflects the university's leadership in the production and quality of scientific research.

3. CWTS Leiden Ranking 2025 (Open Edition)
The University of Basrah was included in this global ranking, which measures the quality of scientific collaboration and international research impact.

4. THE Awards Arab World 2025 Ranking (Finalist List)
The university has been shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Awards Arab World, which will be held in Amman, Jordan on November 25, 2025.

5. Iraqi Science Day Award – Distinguished Scientific Journal
The College of Engineering Journal – Department of Electrical Engineering received the Distinguished Scientific Journal Award from the international ISSN organization at the Iraqi Science Day celebration.

6. Three Scientific Journals Incorporated into the FAO-AGRIS (United Nations) Database
- Iraqi Journal of Aquaculture
- Basrah Journal of Agricultural Sciences
- Basrah Journal of Veterinary Research
All three received the international AGRIS Data Provider Seal.

7. UI GreenMetric Ranking 2025 – Environmental Sustainability
The University of Basrah participated in the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, which measures universities' commitment to environmental sustainability. The results are expected to be announced in Taiwan between December 4 and 6, 2025.
