The Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Administration and Economics, in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, organized a scientific guidance workshop titled "Digital Currencies" in the laboratory hall of the Department of banking and financial sciences.
The workshop, presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Jabr Salem, L. Ahmed Abdul Karim, and Assist. L. These currencies rely on digital technology to secure transactions and record them in public records.
The workshop also addressed the most important types of digital currencies, including Bitcoin, the first and most popular digital currency, created in 2009; Ethereum, another popular digital currency, created in 2015; and Litecoin, another popular digital currency, created in 2011.
The workshop aimed to highlight the advantages of digital currencies, which are not controlled by any central authority, meaning that transactions take place directly between individuals. In terms of security, digital currencies use encryption to secure and protect transactions.
Finally, the workshop recommended the need for the technology used in digital currencies to develop, which could increase their efficiency and security. This could also increase the use of digital currencies in the future, which could increase their value and usage.
