A PHD. DISSERTATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH DISCUSSES (OIL REVENUES IN IRAQ AND THE ROLE OF GOVERNANCE IN EMPLOYING THEM FOR THE PERIOD (2004-2022))
On Sunday 9/6/2024 a PhD dissertation at the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah was discussed (Oil revenues in Iraq and the role of governance in employing them for the period (2004-2022).
The researcher’s dissertation (Muslim Hassan Khalaf) aims to review the concepts and standards of governance, with a focus on resource governance. Natural resources, especially in the oil sector, and the foundations and mechanisms necessary to achieve governance, relying on auxiliary tools and international indicators, in addition to analyzing the reality of corruption and awarding contracts in the Iraqi oil sector.
The dissertation recommended the importance of establishing a sovereign fund for Iraq to achieve financial stability and mitigate the impact of oil price fluctuations, as well as diversify the Iraqi economy and move towards raising governance indicators as a basis for achieving sustainable economic development and achieving the goals of growth and stability in Iraq.
