A LECTURER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH PARTICIPATES IN A WORKSHOP ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND ITS EFFECTS ON THE MARSHES:
The lecturer in the Department of Economics at the college of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah  Prof. Dr. Nadwa Hilal Jouda, participated in a workshop held on 7/5/2024 in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation GIZ.
The workshop included giving a lecture entitled climatic changes and its effects on the marshes.
The lecture aims to shed light on the relationship between climate and security and improve peace and stability through adaptation to climate change and focus on marshes.
The lecture included a statement of Iraq's fifth ranking in terms of the world level for the drought of climate on 15/6/2023, about 13,000 families were displaced due to drought conditions in 10 governorates, the largest share of which was in Nasiriyah Governorate.
The marshes have been affected by climatic change due to the lack of water, the raise in temperature and the increase in evaporation was reflected in the change in the environment of marshes, as fresh water was cut off from some plants during the drought period and migrated many birds and other effects.
