A MASTER'S THESIS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH DISCUSSES THE CRUDE OIL REFINING INDUSTRY AND PETROCHEMICALS IN THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA
On Sunday 27/11/2022 the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah discussed a master's thesis in the Department of Economics on (the crude oil and petrochemical refining industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the years 2010-2020 with special reference to Iraq).
The researcher's thesis (Saleh Kamel Muhalhel) aims to explain the weaknesses in the oil sector and the petrochemical sector, ways of advancement and development, and taking into account developments in the region and developments that took place in Saudi Arabia, such as establishing industrial cities and increasing expertise in order to advance the country.
The thesis concluded that exposure to foreign markets did not lead to the desired purpose of raising economic growth rates unless there were factories for the country capable of competing with imported oil and petrochemical products, and that the economic diversification in the Kingdom related to petrochemicals is good and needs greater effort in order to reach the optimum limit for diversification and thus reduce dependence on petroleum products.
