BASRA UNIVERSITY HOLDS A WORKSHOP ENTITLED “ERRORS IN STATISTICAL ANALYSIS”:
The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basra held on Tuesday, 11/1/2022 a workshop entitled “Errors in Statistical Analysis” delivered by each of the Assistant Prof. Dr. Bahaa Abdul-Razzaq Qassem Al-Amri Head of the Department of Management Information Systems and Assistant Professor Dr. Walid Minh Ronen Al-Takrimy in the department.
The workshop aims to introduce the importance of statistics in the design and implementation of research, studies, doctoral dissertations and master’s theses in various sciences, and to introduce a set of errors that occur in statistical analysis as a result of the researcher’s or analyst’s lack of familiarity with the concepts of statistical measures and indicators and his dependence on the outputs of statistical software such as spss only, in addition to introducing a group of Reasons why the results obtained from the statistical analysis are false and unrealistic.
The workshop dealt with errors in the statistical analysis in which the researchers fall into two axes, in which the lecturers dealt with a set of statistical errors, including errors in collecting study data, determining the optimal sample size, errors in using the questionnaire, errors in the use of some statistical measures when analyzing, and the most important reasons why the results obtained from statistical analysis are false.
The workshop recommended the necessity of relying on specialists in the field of statistics to analyze data statistically, as well as the necessity of teaching methods of statistical analysis as a basic subject in postgraduate studies, in addition to how to implement them using statistical software by professors specialized in statistics.
