UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH ORGANIZES A WORKSHOP ON THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF SMOKING
The Educational Counseling and Psychological Guidance Unit at the College of Administration and Economics—in collaboration with the College’s Department of banking and financial sciences and the University of Basrah’s Center for Continuing Education and Development—organized a workshop titled "A Smoke-Free Life: Smoking, E-cigarettes, and Their Negative Impacts."
The workshop aimed to raise health awareness among students and promote a healthy lifestyle free from harmful habits, with the goal of fostering a well-informed university environment.
Presented by college members Sarah Abbas Ali and Adhraa Jasib Al-Abadi, the workshop highlighted the health and psychological risks associated with smoking and e-cigarettes, while debunking common misconceptions regarding the safety of such alternatives.
The workshop concluded with a recommendation for academic institutions to join forces in launching awareness campaigns and intensifying psychological guidance efforts to curb this phenomenon.
