UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH ORGANIZES AWARENESS WORKSHOP TO REDUCE RISKS OF ILLEGAL MIGRATION
The Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Administration and Economics, in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, organized an awareness workshop to reduce irregular migration.
The workshop aimed to shed light on the economic and social motives for migration, raise awareness of its security, legal and humanitarian risks, and enhance national belonging and direct youth energies towards exploiting available opportunities and alternatives.
The workshop, lectured by Dr. Radi Obaid Naghmesh from the Department of Banking and financial Sciences and lecturer Umm Al-Baneen Saleh Jaber from the Department of Economics, included a detailed presentation of the challenges facing migrants through irregular routes, and warning of the consequences of risking the future.
The workshop recommended intensifying counseling programs, supporting youth projects to reduce unemployment, activating psychological counseling, integrating academic and community efforts, and directing research towards sustainable economic solutions.
