THE PARLIAMENTARY FINANCE COMMITTEE DISCUSSES ECONOMIC CHALLENGES AND BUDGET DEVELOPMENT WITH DEANS OF COLLEGES OF ADMINISTRATION AND ECONOMICS

The Finance Committee of the Iraqi Parliament hosted a group of deans of colleges of administration and economics from public universities, headed by the Chairman of the Committee of Deans of Colleges of Administration and Economics, Professor Dr. Abdul Hussein Tawfiq Shibli, Dean of the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah.

The meeting addressed the most prominent economic problems and challenges facing the country, focusing on three main axes. These included the issue of oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz and the challenges associated with its closure, as well as the discussion of implementing a program and performance budget instead of a line-item budget.

The attendees agreed to form a broad, voluntary committee comprising specialists in economic, administrative, and statistical sciences from various public universities. This committee will provide advice and expertise as needed and will convene whenever economic problems or challenges arise, working to present appropriate proposals and solutions to address them.
