UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH ORGANIZES SEMINAR ON THE IMPACT OF DRUGS
The College of Administration and Economics, through its Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit, in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah and the Basra Directorate of Drug and Psychotropic Substance Control, organized an awareness seminar entitled "The Impact of Drug Use on University Students."
The seminar aimed to raise preventative awareness, equip students with accurate information, and refute myths by correcting misconceptions that drugs or stimulants help with staying awake and studying with focus. It also aimed to strengthen the university's role in early intervention.
The seminar, presented by Dean Ali Mohsen, Director of the Legal Division, included a scientific presentation addressing the health, psychological, and legal dimensions of drug use, its effects on academic performance and university behavior, and the penalties for drug use or trafficking according to local laws.
The seminar recommended activating psychological counseling units, intensifying awareness programs, and strengthening cooperation with relevant authorities.
