Master's Thesis at the University of basrah Examines the Impact of Governance Principles on Financial Performance

A master's thesis at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Basra, examined the impact of applying governance principles on the financial performance of institutions: a case study of the Iraqi Oil Tankers Company (2015–2024).

The thesis, submitted by student Hussein Ali Kamel, aimed to measure the impact of applying governance principles on the financial performance of the Iraqi Oil Tankers Company through two analytical phases. The first phase involved using descriptive analysis to assess the level of application of governance principles, along with financial analysis to evaluate financial performance. The second phase relied on statistical analysis through the development and testing of a standard model represented by a weighted composite governance index.

The thesis recommended that relevant authorities in Iraq adopt a standardized methodology for constructing a weighted composite governance index to assess the extent to which institutions adhere to governance principles and enhance their financial performance
