A master's thesis at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Basrah , examined the relationship between unemployment and economic growth in Iraq and Saudi Arabia according to the OKUN Law (2004–2024).
The thesis, submitted by student Batoul Zuhair Mansour, aimed to analyze the evolution of GDP growth rates and unemployment levels, and to verify the applicability of the OKUN Law to the Iraqi and Saudi economies.
The thesis employed econometric models to measure the nature of the relationship between unemployment and economic growth and to identify the most suitable models.
The thesis recommended the necessity of developing the labor market, strengthening economic diversification policies, and aligning educational outputs with the needs of productive sectors, thereby contributing to achieving sustainable economic growth that generates job opportunities.
