UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH ORGANIZES AWARENESS SEMINAR ON INTERNET ADDICTION: TYPES, MANIFESTATIONS, AND TREATMENT METHODS
The College of Administration and Economics, through its Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit, in cooperation with the Women's Empowerment Unit and the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, organized an awareness seminar entitled "Internet Addiction: Types, Manifestations, and Treatment Methods."
The seminar aimed to raise awareness of the dangers of excessive technology use, identify behaviors indicative of addiction, explain its various types, and offer practical solutions to mitigate this phenomenon.
The seminar, presented by lecturers  Rana Abdullah Mohammed and Hiba Yassin Abdullah, clarified the concept of internet addiction as a compulsive and excessive use of the internet and smart devices, and the resulting behavioral and psychological disorders that negatively impact social, professional, and health aspects of life.
The seminar recommended the importance of monitoring and being mindful of screen time, practicing focus mode, strengthening family awareness, establishing household rules, and seeking professional help from a psychologist in severe cases.
