UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH ORGANIZES SEMINAR ON SCIENTIFIC TERMINOLOGY STANDARDS
The College of Administration and Economics/Department of Accounting at the University of Basrah organized a scientific seminar entitled: (Linguistic Semantic Standards in Formulating Scientific Terminology).
The seminar aimed to clarify the concept of linguistic semantics and its relationship to technical meaning, in addition to identifying the most important linguistic standards necessary for formulating scientific terms.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Suhail Abdullah Nasser and Dr. Abbas Abdulaziz Sayhood, included an explanation of the components of semantics—word, meaning, and context—along with an explanation of the stages of term formulation, from defining the concept and studying the words to testing the semantics.
The seminar recommended adhering to semantic standards for scientific terms and adopting a unified linguistic reference in coordination with universities and Arabic language academies.
