BASRA UNIVERSITY DISCUSSES A MASTER’S THESIS ((THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ENVIRONMENT IN ATTRACTING OIL INVESTMENTS TO IRAQ))

A master's thesis in financial and banking sciences discussed ((the importance of the investment environment in attracting oil investments to Iraq)).

The thesis presented by the student (Seema Muhammad Amin) included three chapters, the first chapter dealt with the methodology of the study and previous studies, the second chapter included the conceptual framework for the investment environment in Iraq and the reality of the oil sector, and the third chapter included foreign investment in the Iraqi oil sector.

The study aimed to discuss the role that the investment environment can play in attracting foreign oil investments to Iraq, by getting to know the investment environment in Iraq and it’s most important elements, and to identify the reality of the investment environment in Iraq and the reality of the Iraqi oil sector.

The researcher concluded that the investment environment is one of the basic foundations in supporting the actual and national economy and achieving economic development as it is one of the most important macroeconomic issues in attracting investments. Likewise, Iraq's almost complete dependence on oil imports causes many problems in the event of a decline in global oil prices.  In turn, it reflects negatively on the stability of the economy, so we must adopt new policies that depend on expanding the productive base and heading towards foreign investment and the exploitation of the agricultural and industrial sectors, in order to diversify resources.

The researcher recommended the necessity of creating an appropriate and attractive investment environment that clearly contributes to the growth of investment as it is the basis for the development and advancement of society and is the investment environment that encourages investment and addresses its basic dimensions.
