The University of Basrah continues to strengthen its academic and research standing among Arab universities after re-entering the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2026, issued by the QS World University Rankings.
This year's ranking saw the participation of 36 Iraqi universities among the 296 Arab universities listed. The University of Basrah ranked sixth in Iraq and 77th in the Arab world, confirming its distinguished track record in scientific research, educational quality, and academic openness.
The President of the University of Basrah, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, emphasized that this achievement reflects the university's significant efforts to develop its educational and research environment, its commitment to applying international quality standards, and strengthening international academic partnerships.
Al-Asadi pointed out that the university's continued progress in regional and international rankings is due to the support of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the dedication of the university's professors and researchers in serving science and society.
The QS ranking is one of the most prominent global rankings, based on criteria including academic reputation, scientific research, professors-to-student ratio, international openness, and post-graduation employment.
