University of Basra Evaluation of a seminar on economic performance and the problem of oil wealth and democratic political process:

The Deanship of the college of Administration and Economics at the University of Basra held a seminar ((Economic performance and the problem of oil wealth and the democratic political process)) for the researcher Professor (Kamal Al-Basri), President of the Trustees of the Iraqi Institute for Economic Reform.

Al-Basri said that economic development bodies are the four wealth: human, economic, social and political. The failure to achieve the desired economic development is that the electoral political process ignored the "Social Contract" and then has been delighted for the application of the vocabulary of good governance to build the state of institutions and to strengthen social cohesion, the absence of transparency financial returns for oil wealth became "easy and easy to expenditure" and has become government expenditure according to the political desire and not by economic feasibility controls.

He indicated that Iraq is "obtained for democratic practices and lost the rule of law," and another expression lost the general framework and solidarity for development, Finally, Al-Basri explained that the realization of the necessary overall framework for development is a common problem between the Government and society to agree on a program of work between government and civil society organizations. The seminar was attended by Dr. Sajid Saad Al Nour, Assistant President of University of Basra for scientific affairs, and professors of the college of Administration and Economics and a number of professors of the University of Basra and postgraduate and first studies.
