BASRA UNIVERSITY DISCUSSES THE FACTORS AFFECTING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT: 

  A panel discussion at the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basra discussed (factors affecting the performance of the Accounting Department) for two researchers, M. Faiha Abdul-Khaliq Mahmoud and Prof. Fatima Jassim Muhammad.  There are many factors that may affect the performance of students three factors have been chosen, which are gender specialization in the preparatory study (scientific, literary or commercial) and the demographic factor, represented by whether the student resides in Basra Governorate or from other governorates. The research sample was chosen from Second stage students for the 2017-2018 academic year, and one of the statistical methods will be chosen to test and analyze the results.

 The two researchers recommended that there is a meaningful relationship between gender and the performance of students of the Accounting Department, and there is a significant relationship between specialization in middle school and the performance of students of the Accounting Department and a significant relationship between the place of residence and the performance of students of the Accounting Department.                                                                                                                                           

The following results were concluded that the personal and professional factors such as the student’s desire and motives for choosing this major have a strong influence on choosing the accounting major and that males have more influence over the previous factors than female
