THE UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH HOLDS A PANEL DISCUSSION ON EMPLOYING THE PARETO-EXPONENTIAL DISTRIBUTION IN MODELING WAITING LINES
On Tuesday 18/4/2023, the Statistics Department at the College of Administration and Economics in the University of Basrah held a panel discussion on (Employment of the Pareto-Exponential Distribution in modeling waiting lines).
The panel discussion, in which Assist. Prof. Dr. Bahaa Abdel-Razzaq Qasim lectured, aimed to discuss the problem that most phenomena (including interfacial arrival times data and services times for waiting queue system) in practical and complementary life, represented by the inadequacy of the well-known traditional distributions in modeling their data as a result of their characteristics from twisting to the right or to the left or fluctuation in its data, in which in turn prompted many researchers to search and build New probability distributions through a set of statistical methods and synthetic method, and to suggest the probability distribution model ye(Pareto-Exponential NLTE-PA) as a new member of the exponential family for new life times that appears has been proposed in the year 2022.
The seminar recommended the necessity of building or using complex distribution in representing real phenomena data, because of its high flexibility in representing data that suffers from fluctuation or torsion including the phenomenon of access and service for waiting queue systems.
