THE UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH ORGANIZES A QURAN COMPETITION IN MEMORIZING AND RECITING THE HOLY QURAN
On Tuesday 4/4/2023 the Educational Counseling and Psychological Guidance Unit at the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah, under the patronage of the Dean of the College Prof. Dr. Abdul-Hussein Tawfeeq Shibli and the supervision of the assistant dean for scientific affairs Prof. Dr. Nadwa Hilal Jouda and in cooperation with the religious reporting center Basrah branch of the holy Hussein shrine   Qur’an competition in "memorizing and reciting the Holy Qur'an".
The competition judged by the members of the arbitration committee represented by Sheikh Hani Abd al-Nabi Taban Abboud al-Asadi, director of the Basrah Center for Notification and Religious Education, Sheikh al-Hafiz Adnan Qasim Musa al-Salhi, Sheikh Jawad Tariq al-Mayahi, Dr. Uday Salih Jabbar a lecturer at the college of human sciences department of Quran sciences and Islamic studies and Dr. Mustafa Hamid Yaqoub, a lecturer at the Great Imam University College, recited and intoned verses from the Holy Quran and memorized what was available from it.
The first place in recitation was won by the student Kazem Mahdi from the College of Education for Qur’an Sciences, and the student Zahra Ali Hashem in memorization from the College of Law.
The Quran competition held aimed at instilling the love of the Holy Quran, its reverence and glorification, and the love of the Messenger, may God’s prayers be upon him and his family, in the young souls, and urging memorizing the Book of God Almighty and applying the provisions of intonation practically during the recitation of the Holy Quran.
The committee recommended that these competitions be repeated in the future to urge students to participate in them permanently and encourage them to memorize the Noble Qur’an and apply its blessed provisions because of what it contains of reforming and refining souls.
At the end of the competition, the arbitration committee extended its thanks and appreciation to the Deanship of the College and to the members of the Educational Counseling and Psychological Guidance Unit. Encouraging gifts were distributed to the participating students and certificates of appreciation to the members of the jury.
