THE UNIVERSITY OF BASRA HOLDS AN AWARENESS SEMINAR ON LIFE WITHOUT DRUGS
On Wednesday 22/3/2023 the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah in cooperation with the Department of Business Administration, held an awareness seminar on life without drugs.
This seminar in which the lecturer Dr. Zainab Yassin Abdel Khader, the supervisor of the legal unit in the college, aimed to introduce the danger of drugs and psychotropic substances to them for the purpose of educating young people and adolescents about the danger facing society from crimes arising from dealing with drugs and psychotropic substances at all levels, and to urge concerted efforts to eliminate on this dangerous phenomenon.
The seminar included addressing very important titles in the form of axes, including the definition of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, the causes of their spread, the effects of dealing with them, and finally the penalties prescribed for them.
The seminar recommended a number of recommendations, the most important of which is the establishment of specialized medical centers, hospitals and clinics to treat addiction in all regions without legal accountability, and the need to activate the oversight role to monitor cases of abuse and promotion, in addition to employing all media means to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs and psychotropic substances, and finally to provide job opportunities for young people, especially university students.
