BASRA UNIVERSITY HOLDS AN AWARENESS SEMINAR ON DRUGS AND PSYCHOTROPIC SUBSTANCES NO. (50) OF 2017
The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Department of Administrative Information Systems, held an awareness seminar on drugs and psychotropic substances No. (50) Of 2017.
This seminar in which the lecturer Dr. Zainab Yassin Abdel -Khidr, the supervisor of the legal unit in the college, aims to educate young people and adolescents to the danger facing the community from crimes arising from dealing with drugs and psychotropic substances, whether on the health, economic or social levels, and urging the concerted efforts to eliminate this The dangerous phenomenon.
The seminar included the presentation of several axes in which the first axis is the definition of drugs and psychotropic substances in accordance with the drug and psychotropic substances law no. (50) Of 2017, and the second axis touched on the reasons for its spread and the effects of dealing with it. The third axis discussed the pillars of the drug crime, whether they were abuse or trafficking in it, and finally, the fourth axis clarified the penalties prescribed to it.
Finally, the seminar recommended a number of recommendations, the most important of which is the interest in the youth category and the provision of job opportunities for them, especially university students and strengthening the role of social welfare for poor and needy families in order to raise their standard of living and the need to activate the intelligence role to monitor cases of abuse and recreation and others as well as publishing medical centers, hospitals and specialized clinics to treat addiction in all regions Finally, all media outlets are employed to raise awareness of the harms and risks of drugs.
