A MASTER’S THESIS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH DISCUSSES A COMPARISON OF SOME PARAMETER ESTIMATION METHODS AND THE RELIABILITY FUNCTION OF THE TWO PARAMETER ERLANG DISTRIBUTION WITH PRACTICAL APPLICATION

A MASTER’S THESIS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BASRAH DISCUSSES A COMPARISON OF SOME PARAMETER ESTIMATION METHODS AND THE RELIABILITY FUNCTION OF THE TWO PARAMETER ERLANG DISTRIBUTION WITH PRACTICAL APPLICATION:
On Tuesday 20/9/2022 the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah discussed a master’s thesis in the Department of Statistics on (comparing some parameter methods and the reliability function of the two-parameter Erlang distribution with practical application).
The thesis of the researcher (Zahraa Sabeih Mahdi) aims to study and compare the best methods for estimating parameters and the reliability function of the Erlang distribution using four methods, namely, the method of greatest possibility, the method of moments, the method of least squares and the Bayes method to reach the best way to estimate that function, by relying on the statistical standard.
The thesis concluded that the adoption of the modified nonparametric methods for estimating the reliability function of the Erlang distribution and the application of the Bayes method in the study of the reliability of the Erlang distribution as it gave the best results in calculating the estimators due to its dependence on preliminary information.
