BASRA UNIVERSITY ORGANIZES A SEMINAR ON FALSE REGRESSION AND VECTOR ERROR CORRECTION (VECM) WITH IMPLEMENTATION USING EVIEWS v.9:
The College of Administration and Economics at Basra University organized, on Tuesday, 2/25/2020, a seminar on false regression and the vector of error correction (VECM) with application using the Eviews v.9 program, with the participation of researchers and lecturers in the Statistics Department.
The seminar presented by (Prof. Dr. Raisan Abdel-Imam Zaalan and M. Bahaa Abdul-Razzaq Qasim) aims to introduce the concept of false regression and the vector of VCEM error as well as how to implement it using Eviews v9.
The importance of the seminar lies in addressing the estimation of the multiple linear regression model for applied studies whose data are unstable time series using a vector model of error correction and estimating the equilibrium relationship between variables in the long and short term.
The seminar included three axes, the first axis dealt with the use of the least squares method to estimate the multiple linear regression model in applied studies whose data are time series data and the emergence of the pseudo-regression problem as a result of time series instability, and the second axis included introducing the VCEM vector model and using it to treat false regression. As for the third axis, I review the application of VCEM estimation using Eviews program.
The researchers called for the need for researchers to pay attention to the use of VAR self-regression models. The error correction vector model (VCEM) is one of its types in applied studies, whose variables data are in the form of time series.
