A PhD DISSERTATION AT THE UNIVERSITY of BASRAH DICUSSES THE ROLE OF FISCAL AND MONETARY POLICIES IN DEALING WITH OIL SHOCKS IN IRAQ
On Thursday 9/6/2022 the College of Administration and Economics at The University of Basrah discussed a PhD dissertation in the Department of Economics on (the role of financial and monetary policies in dealing with oil shocks in Iraq for the period 1973-2019).
The dissertation of the researcher (Adnan Hadi Jaaz) aims to track the path of the fiscal and monetary politicians in Iraq which included several oil shocks that had an impact on the Iraqi macroeconomic variables, and thus knowing the role of the two policies in facing those shocks.
The dissertation concluded that the study of the fiscal and monetary policies were in keeping with the oil shocks which means that their effectiveness was low to address the negative effects of negative shocks or take advantage of positive shocks, and then a proposed future vision was developed that increases the effectiveness of the fiscal and monetary policies in the face of future shocks.
