BASRA UNIVERSITY ORGANIZES A SEMINAR ON THE RUSSIAN-UKRAINIANIAN WAR AND ITS IMPLICATION FOR FOOD AND ENERGY SECURITY IN IRAQ 
The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basra organized on Wednesday 30/3/2022 an economic seminar on ((the Russian-Ukrainian war and its repercussions on food and energy security in Iraq)).
The seminar aimed to explain the economic effects of the outbreak of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on food security on the one hand, and oil prices on the other.
The seminar which was moderated by Prof. Dr. Sami Obaid Al-Tamimi, Head of the Economics Department and lectured by Prof. Dr. Nabil Jaafar Abd Al-Ridha, Prof. Dr. Raja Abdullah Issa and researcher Raed Abed Fahd included two main axes between the first axis the repercussions of the war on food security and the second axis clarified the repercussions of the war on oil prices.
The seminar recommended the need to pay attention to food security by strengthening the strategic stock, especially of the wheat crop on the one hand, and monitoring prices on the other hand, as well as benefiting from the abundant oil revenues that have been achieved as a result of high oil prices and investing them in an optimal manner to ensure diversification and sustainable economic development.
