A MASTER’S THESIS AT BASRA UNIVERSITY DISCUSSES THE ROLE OF THE RATIONA EXPECTATIONS HYPOTHESIS IN PREDICTING OPTIMAL OIL PRICES:
On Tuesday 15/2/2022 the College of Administration and Economics at Basra University discussed a master’s thesis in the Department of Statistics ((The role of the rational expectations hypothesis in predicting optimal oil prices and its impact on the Iraqi economy for the years 1970-2020)).
The thesis of the researcher (Marwa Iyad Muhammad) aims to identify the concept of rational expectations, their importance and assumptions, how to apply them and their effectiveness in the analysis and test the rational behavior of decision makers in relation to oil prices and to identify the most important factors affecting the global oil markets by building the most appropriate model to study the relationship between oil price and factors specified for him.
The thesis concluded that the experts have an economic view in determining the expected price, but the agents who determine the global price in the market do not depend on all the available information, but on some variables.
