On Thursday 16/12/2021, the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basra discussed a PhD thesis in financial and banking sciences on fluctuations in international oil prices and their impact on building an investment portfolio - an analytical study in a sample of the Gulf financial markets with special reference to Iraq.
The thesis of the researcher (Ashti Abdul-Sattar Abdul-Ghani) aims to identify the statement of the economic effects that oil price fluctuations have left on the returns of the economic sectors of the financial market portfolio, and to reveal the mechanism of this effect, which is linked to a number of macroeconomic variables.
The thesis reached a set of conclusions, the most prominent of which was the existence of discrepancies between the study countries with regard to measuring the effects of fluctuations in oil prices in economic variables and the returns of investment portfolios in the financial market, and the success of an efficient investment portfolio on the scientific method in its management through the foundations and policies followed by the investor.
