The Educational Guidance and Psychological Guidance Unit at the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basra organized an awareness lecture on domestic violence against women.
The lecture aimed to identify domestic violence against women in Iraqi society and ways to confront it.
The lecture which was given by Assistant Professor Wafaa Ali Sultan in the Department of Business Administration, included several axes, where she explained in the first axis the concept of domestic violence and explained in the second axis the causes of domestic violence and focused in the third axis on the types of domestic violence and spoke in the fourth axis about the cycle of domestic violence and finally indicated in the Fifth axis to methods of confronting domestic violence.
The lecture recommended enacting laws by the state to protect women from domestic violence, raising awareness and educating women about their rights and not underestimating them, as well as activating a culture of respect for human rights and establishing the principle of dialogue and cooperation among family members.
