A MASTER’S THESIS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BASRA DISCUSSES A STATISTICAL STUDY ON THE USE OF ARFIMA MODELS IN FORECASTING WITH PRACTICAL APPLICATION:
The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basra discussed on Thursday 11/11/2021 a master’s thesis in statistics a statistical study on the use of ARFIMA models in forecasting with practical application.
The thesis of the researcher (Zainab Sami Yassin) aims to estimate and define the ARFIMA model to obtain the most accurate and best predictions for births, and to estimate and define the ARFIMA-Fuzzy model to obtain the most accurate and best predictions for births, and then compare the two models.
The thesis concluded that the data series for monthly births in the city of Basra was characterized by the long memory feature, and that the ARFIMA model was superior to the normal ARFIMA model in representing birth data.
