A MASTER’S THESIS AT BASRA UNIVERSITY DISCUSSES THE INDEPENDENCE OF THE GENERAL BANK OF IRAQ AND ITS IMPACT ON SOME ECONOMIC VARIABLES FOR THE PERIOD (2004-2020):
On Thursday 4/11/2021 the College of Administration and Economics discussed a master’s thesis in banking and finance on the independence of the Central Bank of Iraq and its impact on some economic variables for the period (2004-2020).
The thesis of the researcher (Abdullah Muhammad Radi Mahdi al-Moussawi) aims to identify the degree of independence of the Central Bank of Iraq and analyze the impact of this independence on some economic variables.
The thesis concluded that the Central Bank of Iraq gained independence after the issuance of Law (56) for the year 2004, as the degree of independence according to the law reached (78.9%), while the actual independence amounted to (59.27%), and that there is an inverse relationship between independence, inflation, interest rate and a direct relationship with The exchange rate and there is no effect of independence in the growth of gross domestic product.
